When buying the first bike for your 3 year old child there are a few things to think about such as, bike with pedals or balance bike. Size of the bike if your child is taller than the average 3 year old then your going to need a bigger bike.
Stabilisers or balance bike
First we should decide wether your want to get your child a bike with stabilisers, or a balance bike, then move up to a pedal bike. If you are on a budget and can not afford to buy both bikes, then you should buy a bike with stabilisers to save money. If your not worried about money, then a balance bike is the way to go.
I bought my 2 year old son a balance bike for his birthday, and it’s the best gift i have ever gave him. When it’s time to play outside, that is the first thing he goes to, he has only had the bike for 6 weeks and he’s already learned to balance on his self.
Buying a bike for your 3 year old that has stabilisers is not the best idea, and one that i would not go for, but we all have different opinions. When i researched how to learn my child how to ride a bike, a lot of people recommend taking the stabilisers and pedals off. So basically telling you to turn it into your own balance bike.
What size bike to get a 3 year old?
2-3 year old children usually start off with a 12 inch bike as this is one of the smallest you can buy. It is always best to take your child with you when you go to buy a bike unless you buy one offline like most of us do.
If your going to buy a your 3 year olds bike offline, then be sure to check all the sizes are correct for your child.
Balance bike for 3 year old
Below are the best first bike for your 3 year old child in my opinion, as they are suitable for children from the age of 2 years old. And they are not over priced like some other expensive brand bikes.

Benefits of a balance bike
Balance bikes are great for a gift for birthdays or christmas, i wish i knew about these when i had my first child. When i bought a bike for my 5 year old son, i had to learn him how to balance his normal bike that has pedals this would of cut that part out.
Balance bikes are not only just fun for your child, but they help with the transition when getting a bike with pedals, because all they have to learn is to use the pedals. Although normal bikes are great, there just not as easy to learn your child to ride a bike.
If i haven’t changed your mind on what type of bike to buy for your child, just remember when buying one that is going to be harder to learn your child when you take the stabilizers off.
